About Me

Qualifications:

BS: Child Development, University of Idaho

MA: School Counseling

Certifications: K-8 Teacher, Child Life Specialist certificate

I moved to the Wood River Valley in 1988. I graduated from Wood River High School. I received a Bachelor of Science in Child Development from the University of Idaho (Go Vandals!). I went on to live in Portland, OR and work at OHSU's Children's Hospital after receiving my Child Life Specialist certificate. This beautiful valley called me back!  I went back to school to get my K-8 teaching certificate from Western Governors and am currently finishing up my masters in school counseling. I have been working for BCSD since 2008. I worked at WRHS in the SPED department as a paraprofessional, I taught 4th and 5th grades and Bellevue Elementary, I taught math at WRMS and am currently a school counselor at WRMS!

When not at school, you can find me hiking, biking, skiing and enjoying our amazing valley with my two teenagers.  I have a son in high school, a daughter in middle school and a dog named Sage.

~Counselors provide the tools and strategies to help us navigate life’s challenges with resilience and grace.

About Me

BA: Sociology and Public Relations, Gonzaga University, 2014

Master of Social Work, University of Montana, 2025

Licensed Master of Social Work, Idaho Board of Social Worker Examiners, 2025

Certified Community Resiliency Model Teacher

I am a Social Worker whose work is rooted in Jannet L. Finn’s, Just Practice theory. This is a trauma-informed theory created to analyze the meaning, context, power, history, and possibility from the view of the individual, the community and beyond. Just Practice theory focuses on the ethical responsibilities of Social Workers to advocate for social justice and equity in their work. It encourages me to engage in reflective, action-oriented practice that challenges injustice and works towards a more inclusive school and community. These are emphasized because they help our students feel safe and give them a sense of empowerment that is essential in building resiliency for our students. I also use Community Resiliency Model, a model that focuses on self-regulation and emotional control. It is a biological model that helps to understand our nervous system and how it affects our thoughts, feelings, sensations & behaviors. As well as Expressive Art therapy and play therapy techniques to build students sense of safety and resiliency. When I am not at school, I love hiking with my dog, Scout, riding mountain bikes with my husband and cooking food and gathering for meals with my friends and family.
