Welcome to the 6th grade at Wood River Middle School! I am so excited to be part of another year, helping former 5th graders transition into young, independent, creative adults! Every day it is an honor to work with learners in our community. Teaching and learning are interconnected relationships; we are always striving to explore our potentials.
Math is all about critical thinking, persevering, taking risks, and being creative. Is it hard sometimes? Sure! Is it easy sometimes? Yes! Is it fun sometimes? Absolutely! Does it drive you crazy sometimes? Of course! Our attitude has much to do with our achievement.

Hello,
My name is Mr Nelson! I have been teaching for Blaine County since 2005. I have taught 6th grade, 5th grade, 4th and PE at WRMS and HES for the majority of my career here an I have been a coach for nearly 30 years in Blaine County. I have made a huge transition back to 6th grade at the Middle School as the new Social Studies teacher. I am also the current athletic director which has been one of the best moves in my career. ¡Me llamo Sr. Nelson! Llevo enseñando en el Condado de Blaine desde 2005. As a math teacher, my students often ask me, “Ms. Rollins, when am I ever going to use this?” And my answer is always the same: all the time. Seventh grade math is full of real-life applications that go far beyond the classroom. Whether you're buying a pair of sneakers and calculating the final price with an 8% sales tax, going out to eat and leaving a 20% tip on a $50 meal, or deciding between a 12-pack of soda for $5.99 and an 8-pack for $4.99, you're using math. These everyday situations require the same skills we practice in class. Sometimes, it’s hard for students to see the connection between what we’re learning and the real world. They may think math only exists during our daily lessons, but in reality, math plays a constant role in helping us make smart financial choices, understand value, and manage our lives more effectively.
Como profesora de matemáticas, mis alumnos a menudo me preguntan: «Sra. Rollins, ¿cuándo voy a utilizar esto alguna vez?». Y mi respuesta es siempre la misma: todo el tiempo. I came to the Wood River Valley in 2006. This area quickly became home as our family loves the outdoors and all the many things this valley has to offer. I have been teaching for over 18 years. I really enjoy learning from and teaching students. It is amazing all the great things you can learn from children and others if you open your eyes, heart and mind to the experience. Math has always been my favorite subject. I am excited to share my love of Math with students. Making our Math Brains explode from all the great things we will be doing in class! Llegué al Valle de Wood River en 2006. Esta zona se convirtió rápidamente en nuestro hogar, ya que a nuestra familia le encanta la vida al aire libre y todas las maravillosas cosas que este valle tiene para ofrecer.
