Hello! I specialize in helping students build the academic English skills they need to succeed in the classroom. In addition to small-group instruction, I’ve spent the last three years co-teaching 8th-grade Math with Ronda Ward. My education journey was inspired by a life of travel—from living in Japan as a child to serving as an exchange student in Denmark. Those experiences taught me that learning a language is about more than just words; it’s about connection. With over a decade of teaching experience in Idaho and North Dakota, I am dedicated to helping our diverse student body feel at home and empowered in their studies.

¡Hola! Me especializo en ayudar a los estudiantes a desarrollar las habilidades de inglés académico que necesitan para tener éxito en el aula. Además de impartir instrucción en grupos reducidos, he dedicado los últimos tres años a coenseñar Matemáticas de octavo grado junto a Ronda Ward. Mi trayectoria educativa se vio inspirada por una vida de viajes: desde vivir en Japón durante mi infancia hasta participar como estudiante de intercambio en Dinamarca. Esas experiencias me enseñaron que aprender un idioma es mucho más que simples palabras; se trata de establecer conexiones. Con más de una década de experiencia docente en Idaho y Dakota del Norte, me dedico a ayudar a nuestro diverso alumnado a sentirse como en casa y empoderado en sus estudios.

I moved to the Wood River Valley from the Yakima Valley in Washington State. I love to ski, enjoy being outdoors and admiring the abundance of wildlife in the area. My educational experience has been working with students with special needs since 2005. It is the small miracles and effort of these students that bring me joy!

I was born and raised in the Wood River Valley and attended Wood River Middle School as a student. After graduating from the University of Denver, I found my passion for Special Education while working as an instructional assistant and later as a Lead Teacher at a school for students with Autism and Developmental Disabilities. I moved back home to Hailey in 2022 and am currently the Extended Resource Room teacher at Wood River Middle School. In my role, I support students with diverse learning needs by helping them build academic skills, support regulation, and build independence within daily routines while also working closely with families and staff to ensure students feel supported and successful at school. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my friends, family, and pets. I’m passionate about being outdoors—whether that’s camping, hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, dog walking, spending time at the river, or gardening. On the weekends, you’ll usually find me catching up with friends, reading a good book or soaking up the sunshine.

Nací y crecí en el Valle de Wood River, y fui estudiante en la Escuela Secundaria Wood River. Tras graduarme de la Universidad de Denver, descubrí mi pasión por la Educación Especial mientras trabajaba como asistente de instrucción y, posteriormente, como maestro titular en una escuela para estudiantes con autismo y discapacidades del desarrollo. Regresé a mi hogar en Hailey en 2022 y, actualmente, me desempeño como maestro del Aula de Recursos Extendidos en la Escuela Secundaria Wood River. En mi función, brindo apoyo a estudiantes con diversas necesidades de aprendizaje, ayudándoles a desarrollar habilidades académicas, a fomentar su autorregulación y a ganar independencia en sus rutinas diarias; al mismo tiempo, trabajo en estrecha colaboración con las familias y el personal escolar para asegurar que los estudiantes se sientan respaldados y exitosos en la escuela. Fuera del ámbito escolar, disfruto pasar tiempo con mis amigos, mi familia y mis mascotas. Me apasiona estar al aire libre, ya sea acampando, haciendo senderismo, practicando excursionismo con mochila, caminando con raquetas de nieve, paseando a mi perro, pasando tiempo junto al río o dedicándome a la jardinería. Los fines de semana, por lo general me encontrarán poniéndome al día con mis amigos, leyendo un buen libro o disfrutando del sol.

I moved to the Wood River Valley, from upstate New York,  in August of 2010.  I took one year off to focus on being a mother to my then five-year-old daughter. I thoroughly enjoyed that experience and took every opportunity to volunteer in her kindergarten classroom. That is when I realized I loved working with children inside an educational setting. I began working as a guest teacher and found that I gravitated toward Special Education. After not too long, I accepted a position as a Special Education Paraprofessional at WRMS, for eight years. In 2019 I decided it was time to take the plunge and become a certified teacher in Special Education. I was thrilled to accept the teaching position here at WRMS. 

When I am not teaching, I spend time with my family and friends.  I enjoy camping, hiking, skiing, traveling, and attending my daughter's sporting events.  We have a hound dog mix named Buddy Love and a cat named Coconut, who keep us entertained.

I am looking forward to learning and growth opportunities for the students and myself in the new school year.

Me mudé al Valle de Wood River, desde el norte del estado de Nueva York, en agosto de 2010. Me tomé un año libre para dedicarme a ser madre de mi hija, quien entonces tenía cinco años. Disfruté muchísimo de esa experiencia y aproveché cada oportunidad para ser voluntaria en su clase de jardín de infancia. Fue entonces cuando me di cuenta de que me encantaba trabajar con niños dentro de un entorno educativo. Comencé a trabajar como maestra suplente y descubrí que sentía una inclinación natural hacia la Educación Especial. Poco tiempo después, acepté un puesto como paraprofesional de Educación Especial en la WRMS, cargo que desempeñé durante ocho años. En 2019, decidí que había llegado el momento de dar el gran paso y convertirme en maestra certificada en Educación Especial. Me llenó de entusiasmo aceptar el puesto docente aquí en la WRMS.

Cuando no estoy enseñando, paso tiempo con mi familia y mis amigos. Disfruto de acampar, hacer senderismo, esquiar, viajar y asistir a los eventos deportivos de mi hija. Tenemos un perro mestizo de raza sabueso llamado Buddy Love y un gato llamado Coconut, quienes nos mantienen entretenidos.

Espero con gran ilusión las oportunidades de aprendizaje y crecimiento, tanto para los estudiantes como para mí misma, en este nuevo año escolar.
